Setting Up a New Humidor
It is important to take care of your cigar humidor to an optimum humidity level before placing your cigars in it. Here are some tips:
- Remove all the parts from the humidor.
- Submerge the humidifier fully in a bowl of distilled water. Keep it submerged, face down for up to 3 minutes. After that, wipe away any excess water, and place the humidifier and the hygrometer back to the humidor, and leave it closed for 12 to 24 hours.
- Check the humidity level. Repeat Step 2 if the humidor does not reach 65% - 75%. As soon as it reaches the optimum humidity, place other accessories back to the humidor. Your cigars are ready to be stored.
- Maintain your cigars at an optimum humidity level by checking the hygrometer and the humidifier at intervals. Use the dropper to add distilled water to the humidifier at a certain frequency depending on the climate.
